A lot of young girls nowadays experience early pregnancy. And because of that, they experience a high-risk pregnancy that would eventually lead to a risky birth. I know a friend who experienced such kind of birth. She was struggling at the hospital for her first child and I got so devastated seeing her in pain. I pity her so much that time, especially with the thought that the doctor might tell us that her condition is critical. It really scared me to death! It even came to a point that I thought of not going through pregnancy and child birth!

Balbacua is a native Filipino dish that is made of Ox’s skin. The ox’s skin is cooked first on a casserole or a pressure cooker to be tender and soft until it can be easily chewed. It is one among the many Filipinos’ favourite food, especially during the rainy days because this dish is a soup-like dish. I used to love eating it too but because of my health consciousness, I minimized eating it. It’s quite unhealthy because of the fat from the Ox’s skin. I only eat it once in a blue moon.

I used to keep on saying that I love the rice cake in the Philippines. Yes it’s still my favourite snack whenever I have the chance to eat it, but I have another cake on my “favourites” list—the sticky rice cake! It is still similar to the typical rice cake that I used to eat, it’s just that instead of using the ordinary grain rice, they used the Japanese sticky rice, and that is what made it fuller of texture that would make you enjoy chewing it! Yesterday was the first time that I ate it and I intend to eat those again!

November 1 of every year is celebrated as Dia de Todos Los Santos in the catholic world. It is a day when we honor all the saints that was acknowledged by the Catholic Church. And to make things fair, November 2 was then set to be the day of all the departed ones. Last November 1st, our family went to my parents’ native places so that we could visit the graves of our beloved who have already departed the earth. But our reason of going mainly is to visit all those relatives who are still alive. That is our primary purpose because you don’t really need to visit the dead. The ones who needs a visit are those who are still alive.
