To avoid sleeping conditions like hyperventilation and sleep apnea, a lot of sleeping method has been studied and developed. Of these methods is the Buteyko Method. Buteyko is a russian breathing method discovered by Dr. Konstantin Buteyko. It is the re-training of one’s breathing practice, lifestyle modification and posture change, together with dietary recommendations designed to impart the method’s best benefits. According to a buteyko practioner, he recommends that we sleep on our left side due to the position of the heart. Also, in sleeping slightly inclined assists in keeping the mouth close, because we are supposed to breathe through our nose whether we are asleep or awake.
